We’re joining the movement for happier meals.
Did you know that for every shop you do on Cherrypick, we donate a school meal to a child living in one of the poorest places in the world? Better still, if you're a Cherrypick Pro subscriber, you'll get tripled donations — that's 3 meals donated with every shop you do.
Feed yourself. Feed someone else. Feel twice as satisfied.
Here at Cherrypick, we’re on a mission to change the trajectory of human and planetary health. This means that we're always asking ourselves how we can use our tech for good and leave things better than we found them - not just in terms of how we can solve our customers' needs, but also thinking more widely about how we can have a positive impact on society and the world around us. That’s why we're delighted to join One Feeds Two™’s movement for happier meals and be part of a collective of food companies that are using hunger to end hunger.
In April 2023, we hit our 100K user milestone and couldn’t think of a better way to say ‘thank you’ than to donate 100K school meals to kick off our partnership with One Feeds Two™. So that’s exactly what we did!
From now on, for every shop you make on Cherrypick, we'll provide a nutritious school meal to a child living in one of the world’s poorest countries.
👛 Who’s paying for these meals?
We are! Right now, giving charitably is an activity in itself and, just as we’re committed to making eating better effortless, we want to make creating positive change effortless, too. So, sit back and enjoy your food - it tastes even better when you’re not eating alone.
🤔 Why support feeding programmes in the world’s poorest economies?
It encourages school attendance. Give a child a meal at school and they’re more likely to go instead of working or begging for food.
It improves concentration and health. Hunger wreaks havoc. At best it prevents concentration, at worst, it raises the risk of serious disease. Regular school meals help children stay fit enough to attend school and do better while they're there. For many children, this will be the only meal they eat that day.
It raise communities out of poverty. Better educational outcomes can have life changing impacts. A literate and numerate person is more likely to find a better job and to make better decisions for their family and their community.
🤷 Why not provide school meals in the UK?
Child hunger and nutrition is still a worldwide problem but in England a free school lunch is already provided to all children attending state schools from reception to Year 2. Children may also apply for free school meals, if their households qualify for certain benefits.
🌍 Where are the school meals provided?
One Feeds Two™ currently works with three best-practice school feeding programmes, operating across five continents, in countries where there is no safety net provided by local governments. The programmes are run in schools to encourage children to attend school and help them to concentrate on their lessons.
The meals we donate will be delivered in Malawi.
🌽 What food is provided in a school meal?
One Feeds Two™ insists that the ingredients used in their feeding programmes are sourced locally. This is important as it supports the local farming community and food industry supply chain, bolstering the local economy. The school meal that is provided is based on the local agriculture and cuisine but is always formulated to provide essential nutrients to support the child’s overall nutritional requirement.
The meals donated when you shop with Cherrypick will be locally sourced corn-soya blended porridge.
🙌 Can I donate to One Feeds Two™?
Yes, you can. Just visit www.onefeedstwo.org/donate to donate school meals. One Feeds Two™ covers all payment processing fees associated with these donations so that 100% of the donations go to the school feeding programme.
